Exploded shapes

Looking through my C&G sketchbooks makes me want to (take the time) to study again.

I do have stuff to write about...

but its all jumbled up in my head...

I need to get some order:-

Self Portrait - found my stuff from this unfinished project and I think I need to document it on here... Later though, because it will be a long post.


Garden planning, watched How to be a Gardener on UKTV on Saturday night (whilst knitting) and really liked Mr Titchmarsh's border designs... He started with a front elevation and then did a birds eye view... and I liked his simple methodology.

I first started using it in 2002 when I started making and selling handstitched cards. I'm sure its not good having so many different names in blogland but I still shy about plastering my own name everywhere. I know its out there in the world wide web but I'm not branded...


A cone of wool... At stitching group on Tuesday, Karen (the Professional Artist) laid out all the yarn that had been donated to the group by a very kind lady in the village. I took some thick wool and some baby white wool. I hope to use them in projects for the Sea Queen Day in June (none of which are on my original project list). I also took a cone of blue 'tweedy' like wool (I think its wool). Its very thin... perhaps 2 ply. I need to experiment with it... knit some swatches, wash it, double it up and hopefully knit Toddler Girl something nice...


I definitely need to be able to wash it... its a little bit musty. But despite the dust, it is a lovely colour.

I also have an idea for more backside stitching... more on that later, too.

The Garden 2009

I am a fair weather gardener and I love garden design books, gardening magazines etc (not keen on gardening programmes though...)

Each year my 'passion' grows, luckily I'm quite sensible about how much time I can actually spend on and in the garden, so I haven't gone completely mad... yet.

So far this year I have bought some special offers at Thompson & Morgan and J Parkers. And of course Lidl, who have a gardening special this week.

I expect delivery from the first two in March...

Sea Queen Day - a to do list

There is an annual gala day in our village. My Tuesday night Stitching Group has a stall and we sell knitted and stitched items for a local cause. Last year I made some skinny scarfs with ladder yarn and some cards. This year I'm feeling a little bit more confident in my knitting and I think I may attempt some baby cardigans...

so here is my provisional list of projects with suggested stashed yarn in brackets (I do NOT want to buy any more yarn!)

• Mittens by Zoe Mellor in Adorable Knits for Tots (Sirdar Snuggly, 4 colours available)
• Ragdoll by Debbie Bliss in Essential Kids (various... need to find some flesh colours...) or some other toys... I do have a pattern book from Jess Hutchison which I may be able to attempt, now I can use double pins...
• Baby Shrug by Debbie Bliss in Prima (Sirdar Country DK, left over from Toddler Girls bolero)
• Ribbed Baby Jacket by Debbie Bliss in Prima (probably the Sirdar Country DK too... there is a lot of it!)
• Baby Hat like the one at Debbie Bodmer (I have some aran weight cotton)
• Tea cosy like this one at Cast On Cast Off (no sure yet)

So far I have done a hat. Its knitted on double pins and didn't take too long, it was quite fiddly...

and one mitten. This was quite fiddly too but I'm very impressed I managed it. I have finally mastered M1...

I am still alive

It has been nearly 1 month since my last post...

I have been busy, but not with stitching...

I have finished my scarf and I'm nearly ready to turn my heel on my second sock.
I've nearly finished the 1st assignment of my marketing course (only 5 months late!)
Toddler Girl has started playgroup and seems to have settled easily and quickly.
As a consequence I am now an active member of the Playgroup committee... coffee morning anyone?
I've been knitting and planning what I'm going to knit to sell at the local gala day in summer. Hopefully we'll raise even more money than last year.
I'm planning the garden, and as I am even more thrifty this year, I've been searching out special offers on plants.
I'm reading business books and building spreadsheets ahead of the launch of hubby's business.
I've listed, sold, packed and posted over 20 items on eBay.

I have also been cooking a lot from Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food book...

oh... and I'm on Twitter...
